Biography of Sophie Hoornaert

When I obtained my master's degree in clinical psychology at ULB as a young twenty-something, I felt like an explorer with a map but no compass. With great passion and curiosity, I had thrown myself into these studies, but it seemed too early to dive straight into practice.
So I first explored other paths, also became a mum of two children and several years ago decided with full conviction to focus my career back on psychology. As a mum, parenting is particularly close to my heart. This led me to the Training Institute for Parental Burnout, where I obtained the Certificate "Understanding, diagnosing and treating Parental Burnout".

I then continued my learning path at the ELP academy with an introductory module in primary psychological care. In 2024, I obtained my master-after-master's degree in integrative psychotherapy from UCLouvain. Over the next two years, I will complement this with the University Certificate in Psychological Evaluations and Interventions. The approach of this university course particularly appeals to me because it is both scientifically based and bridges different forms of therapy.
I have a profound passion for people, their functioning, their emotions and their relationships. This fascination is at the core of my professional dedication. I am convinced that every individual has undiscovered strengths and that authentic, caring connection between people as well as hope play an essential role in the process of healing and personal development.
